NEWCASTLE United will take on Bayer Leverkusen in a pre-season friendly at St James’ Park, with further opponents for the men’s and women’s teams to be announced as part of the VisitMalta Weekender.
The Leverkusen game will take place on Saturday, August 15, at 3pm, with two friendlies then scheduled for the Sunday.
Newcastle Women will kick off at 1pm on the Sunday, before Eddie Howe’s side play their second friendly of the weekend at 4pm.
Newcastle say opponents for both of the Sunday games will be announced later this month, as will ticket information.
The Magpies kick off their pre-season campaign with a behind closed doors game against Darlington. That is scheduled to take place at the end of the players’ first week back in training. Newcastle’s squad will report back for pre-season on Monday, July 13.
The first public-facing friendly is at Gateshead on Saturday, July 25 at 12.30pm.
Howe’s side will then head for Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City on Wednesday, July 29 at 7.30pm.
As part of a training camp in Spain, Newcastle will take on Valencia at the Mestalla on Saturday, August 8 at 8pm UK time.
After returning to the North East, the Magpies will travel north to face Everton at Murrayfield on Wednesday, August 12 at 5.15pm.
